With the advance of technology, navigation systems allow drivers to be aware of all surroundings making their drive safer and more efficient with the ability to talk to others

The usage of a phone when first invented was strictly for phone calls. Today, not only do we Facetime and text our family and friends, but we are now able to use applications on our phones that will help guide us with everyday routines.
One of the most used applications would be our GPS navigation system. According to the Statistics Portal, between 2009 and 2012, navigation usage has increased by 56 million, which demands of a better way to get where we need to go.

Instead of pulling out the traditional paper map to help get to where we need to go, we have the ability to simply type our final destination into our phones and with voice command, we can get to where we need to be safely without getting lost.

Navigation systems have been improving and expanding vastly with the use of technological convergence. With the constant updates and applications being released, it is no surprise that our navigation system on our phones have improved. But this time, it is even better.

With the new application Waze, there are many new features that make our drive a lot smoother and quicker. It gives us a traffic bar, which will say how much longer it will take to arrive when there is traffic in our route. For many cases, it will automatically re-route you to go through a faster route without traffic.

Waze has also added a feature that allows us to be "produsers" on this application. We have the ability to communicate with people driving through our route, which helps to inform others of any hazards on the road or police enforcement on the way.

Navigation systems will continue to advance frequently with our ability to connect with technology to get new ideas to improve.
