A new mobile app allows students on field trips or studying abroad to remember connections between photos, videos and notes created outside the classroom. Called The Traveler, this app developed in-house by Ball State University combines the services of several apps, such as note-taking apps, photo collections and mapping services. The end result is an app being used in a wide array of disciplines for field trips and students abroad looking to make the most of material they collect while outside the classroom. The app has now collected more than 100,000 miles and 25,000 media objects, and the creators are now thinking of ways the app can improve the actual field trip by providing timely, useful information based on the student's location.
